Planetary Formulas Old Indian Wild Cherry Bark Syrup (4 fl oz)
Planetary Formulas Old Indian Wild Cherry Bark Syrup gives your lungs a little herbal assistance for free and easy breathing. For generations, traditional herbalists have used syrups made from wild cherry bark to soothe the lungs and respiratory tract and promote clear breathing. Recently, the herb has seen a resurgence in popularity as more and more people have been seeking natural alternatives for respiratory health maintenance.
Wild Cherry Bark Syrup is a combination of some of the finest botanicals in North America and China, traditionally used for supporting the respiratory system. North American classics such as elecampane, horehound, hyssop, and mullein are combined with loquat leaf, fritillaria, and platycodon from Chinese herbalism. In addition, other herbs, including North America's renowned wintertime treasure, echinacea, are added to support internal defenses.

- A traditional favorite for generations
Prunus (Wild Cherry Bark ) is an important cough remedy. The cyanogenic glycosides are hydrolysed in the body to glucose, benzaldehyde and hyanocyanic acid, otherwise known as prussic acid. Prussic acid is rapidly excreted via the lungs where it first increases respiration and then sedates the sensory nerves which provoke the cough reflex.
Due to its powerful sedative action, it is used primarily in the treatment of irritating and persistent coughs when increasing expectoration is inappropriate, and thus has a role in the treatment of bronchitis and whooping cough and in the racking cough of debility or convalescence. It can be combined with other herbs to control asthma. Both the cyanogenic glycosides and volatile oil help to improve the digestion, and Prunus may be used as a bitter where digestion is sluggish. The cold infusion of the bark may be used as a wash in eye inflammation and as an astringent in diarrhoea.
The syrup is specially prepared from both fresh and dry herbs, utilizing a multistep extraction process, designed to capture the essence of each botanical. The quality of this formulation, together with the care that goes into its preparation, provides you with a comprehensive seasonal health supplement.
