Now Foods L-Lysine 500 mg (100 Capsules)

L-Lysine plays a major role building muscle protein, recovering from surgery or sports injuries, in calcium absorption, and the body's production of hormones, enzymes, and antibodies. Lysine is an essential amino acid, which means that it is necessary to human health but cannot be manufactured by the body. Lysine is significant for proper growth and it plays an essential role in the production of carnitine, a nutrient in charge for converting fatty acids into energy and helping to lower cholesterol.

Now Foods L-Lysine:

  • Essential Amino Acid
  • Pharmaceutical Grade (USP)
  • Supports Membrane Health

Osteoporosis: L-lysine helps improve the absorption of calcium from the digestive tract and prevent loss of calcium in the urine. In so doing, some researchers speculate that L-lysine may help prevent bone loss associated with osteoporosis.

Herpes and Shingles: Taking lysine supplements can speed recovery time and lessen the chance of recurrent breakouts of the herpes infection.

Other: Certain forms of lysine and/or lysine bound to anti-inflammatory medications may help ease pain following an episiotomy (a procedure performed during labor that involves cutting the vaginal area to enlarge the vaginal opening and facilitate delivery). These forms of lysine may also relieve migraine headaches and painful periods. Whether L-lysine and other readily available lysine supplements also offer these benefits is not known.

   Product Faqs :

What is Lysine?
Lysine is an essential amino acid and is a basic building block of all protein.
Why do I need Lysine?
Lysine is required for growth and bone development in children, assists in calcium absorption and maintaining the correct nitrogen balance in the body and maintaining lean body mass. Furthermore, it is needed to produce antibodies, hormones, enzymes, collagen formation as well as repair of tissue.
Since it helps with the building of muscle protein, it is useful for patients recovering from injuries and recovery after operations, and there might be use in lysine to help maintain healthy blood vessels. It also seems to assist in fighting herpes and cold sores.
What are the symptoms of Lysine Deficiency?

People on a vegan or vegetarian diet, using grains as their only source of protein are often deficient in this nutrient. The symptoms may include anemia, enzyme disorders, lack of energy, hair loss, bloodshot eyes, weight loss and retarded growth as well as reproductive problems, poor appetite and poor concentration.

How does L-Lysine help with herpes?
Lysine restricts the herpes virus from becoming active. It does this by interfering with its natural "food" source, Arginine, an amino acid that is required by the virus to replicate and become active.
