Jarrow Formulas Taurine 1000 is a powerful combination of Antioxidant & Amino Acid. Taurine 1000 is a sulfur containing amino acid chemically known as beta-aminoethanesulfonic acid. It is a metabolite of the amino acids methionine and cysteine and is found in most cells. As an antioxidant, taurine is used to quench hypochlorite secreted by leukocyte immune cells. It also aids in maintenance of proper concentrations of ions inside the cell. Taurine’s other biological functions include cellular growth, membrane stabilization, sperm motility, bile acid conjugation and neurotransmission.
