L-Carnitine is an amino acid found in high concentrations in heart and liver tissue, where it participates in metabolizing fatty acids into energy in the mitochondria. L-Carnitine also facilitates the metabolism of carbohydrates and enhances the rate of oxidative phosphorylation.L-Carnitine works synergistically with Co-Q10, an antioxidant and energy co-factor that is found in the inner membrane of the mitochondria. Biosint™ L-Carnitine is manufactured by Sigma-Tau Industries, S.p.A. (Rome, Italy), the pioneer in L-Carnitine science.

Ingredient Details:L-Carnitine (From 862 mg L-Carnitine Fumarate) 500 mg Cellulose, magnesium stearate and silicon dioxide. Capsule consists of gelatin. DuraCarn L-Carnitine Fumarate is a superior, stable form of L-Carnitine and is 58% elemental carnitine. 862 mg of L-Carnitine Fumarate yields 500 mg elemental L-Carnitine.

Comment # 2 ( Felipa Abitia, California ) Rating: Helps my Heart Palpitations Got this for my wife and I solely for weight loss, with Alpha-Lipoic Acid. For me I felt a dramatic "calming' effect. My wife didn't. At the time I started taking it, I had a 24/7 heart monitor as part of my yearly checkup from my cardiologist. For 2 weeks prior to taking it I had daily heart palpitations that I recorded. After taking it, and experiencing the "calming" effect on me, I did not have any palpitations to record. Because my wife did not experience this "calming" effect as I did, I assume that my body was lacking this nutrient. My Cardiologist agreed. I still take my heart meds, but I take this in addition to them. I haven't had a heart palpitations for 1.5 years since I began taking L-Carnitine.

With all the things available for this problem and all the reason these cramps occur. this was a suprise. Spasm's in the calf, even the thigh or the foot itself were relieved.I take 1000 to 1500mg before bed...and I cannot tell you all how amazing this was.Also not as easily fatgued during the day. With another form of carnitine I put back on 3opounds in 6 weeks, and have taken 18 of that off again. IT also game me an immediate boost in energy and mood.

I have to say that only one 500mg pill provides me with a very noticable boost in energy, alertness, and it even seemed to enhance my muscle tone....I believe that since it is a Amino Acid it would be best to take it on an empty stomach or at least away from a meal with protein in order to see its full effect... I have not experimented with higher doses and have stopped using this product after 5 days in order to evaluate other supplements but I assure you I will definitely begin taking this again!
