CURCUMIN 95 is an 18:1 concentrate of the antioxidants found in the spice turmeric root. The result is a 95% concentrate of turmeric antioxidants known as curcuminoids including curcumin, demethoxycurcumin and bisdemethoxycurcumin.Turmeric is the common name for Curcuma longa, a member of the Zingiberaceae Family. Turmeric is an herb from the ginger family that grows up to one meter in height. The oils found in turmeric extracts have the ability to reduce excess gases in the stomach and intestines. Cineol, camphor and linalool are also found in the turmeric extracts and they have antispasmodic properties (this would explain the common Asian usage of turmeric powder for stomach aches). The roots of the plant are stemlike and are used as an herb in Asian cooking such as curries. The practice of using curcumin for antiviral effects has been common knowledge for centuries.
