I have started taking Acidophilus pearls about a month ago. I can finally feel a difference in my digestive health. Earlier I used to get a lot of acidity & I used to eat yogurt regular. But since I have started Acidophilus Pearls, its improving faster.

Enzymatic Therapy Acidophilus Pearls 30 Pearls

Enzymatic Therapy's Acidophilus Pearls provides the active cultures for better digestion. It has the goodness of yogurt without calories and sugar. It protects the Lactobacilus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium longum from stomach acids, and guarantee delivery into the intestine, where they are released intact to increase healthy intestinal flora.

Acidophilus Pearls benefits the following ways:

  • It increases the beneficial bacteria in the lower intestine by up to 600%,
  • It delivers 900% more active cultures to the intestines compared to competing probiotics.

Unlike other enteric-coated products which offer no on-shelf protection (and only minimal protection against stomach acids), patented True Delivery Technology protects the microflora in Acidophilus Pearls from shelf conditions like air and light.

The inner layer is a paste of healthy probiotics suspended in a protective oil mixture. The second layer seals the probiotics in the capsule, and protects them from air and moisture. Probiotics are anaerobic organisms and the presence of oxygen can actually injure, weaken, or kill them.

The third layer is a patented coating that protects the probiotics from the acid environment of the stomach, that helps to reach the intestine successfully where they are needed. Probiotics are not resistant to stomach acids, so the outermost layer of the pearl is specially developed to dissolve only in the alkaline environment of the intestines.

FAQ

What is True Delivery™ Technology? Doesn’t enteric coating provide enough protection for probiotics?
The term enteric means "related to the intestines." Enteric coatings are meant to keep the tablet from releasing the key ingredients until it enters the intestinal tract. Enteric coating is often used with ingredients that could irritate the stomach lining, such as garlic or volatile oils. While enteric coating works well for this application, it does not necessarily provide the optimal protection for delicate ingredients such as probiotics. While enteric coating keeps the ingredients in, it does not necessarily keep stomach acid out. Additionally, the process of enteric coating requires high temperatures which can also damage the fragile bacteria.

Acidophilus Pearls™ active cultures uses a revolutionary three layered "pearl" encapsulating process called True Delivery™ Technology. The innermost layer of each contains a combination of Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium longum suspended in a protective oil mixture. The second layer seals the healthy bacteria in the capsule and protects them from air and moisture. The third, outermost layer is specially developed to dissolve only in the alkaline environment of the intestine where the beneficial bacteria are released live and intact.

Why does Acidophilus Pearls active cultures contain only two strains of probiotics?
Probiotics are the natural live microbial supplements that are known to be beneficial in maintaining intestinal balance. The organisms in Acidophilus Pearls, Lactobacillus acidophilus (which means "acid-loving, lactic acid-producing bacterium" in Latin) and Bifidobacterium longum, have the most research and clinical study of all the probiotics. Over 75 years of published research has shown that lactic acid producing bacteria in general, and L. acidophilus and B. longum in particular, are the most effective in maintaining a healthy balance of intestinal flora. While Lactobacillus rhamnosus, Bifidobacterium bifidum, and other strains are often found in probiotic supplements, the research behind these organisms is not as strong.

Why does Acidophilus Pearls active cultures contain only 1 billion bacteria? Some other probiotic supplements contain several billion.
General recommendations for probiotic bacteria are to take 1 billion daily. Other products need to use many times this amount because they lack a protective delivery system for the bacteria. In order to have even a few survive shelf-life and transit through the stomach they must start with many billions of bacteria. However, because Acidophilus Pearls uses a patented delivery system which protects the bacteria until they arrive in the intestines – and studies show over a 90% survival rate – you get the dosage you need from one capsule. It isn’t necessary to take many billions of bacteria hoping that some will make it to where they are needed. Acidophilus Pearlsguarantees delivery of live bacteria, and has been shown to increase the beneficial bacteria in the intestines by 600%.

Where do the bacteria in Acidophilus Pearls active cultures come from?
The Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium longum are harvested via a highly controlled fermentation process, then purified, grown to large numbers, and concentrated to high doses. The exact substance on which they are grown is proprietary. A great deal of effort goes into the research to find the optimal blend of nutrients which yields the strongest and healthiest bacteria. In order to keep this research from being duplicated by other companies we do not disclose the exact nutrient base on which the bacteria are grown.

   Product Faqs :

What is acidophilus and where does it come from?

Acidophilus is known as a probiotic and is part of a group of beneficial intestinal bacteria called lactobacilli. L. acidophilus is present in the intestines at birth and is eventually joined by another well known bacteria called L. bifidus. Both are highly beneficial to the proper function of the intestine and to overall health and may be the most important bacteria of over 400 species in the digestive tract. It helps maintain a normal balance of health flora (bacteria). This form of "healthy" bacteria is beneficial to the human digestive tract so that it may continue optimal functioning and may also play an important role in supporting immune system function.

What does it do and what scientific studies give evidence to support this?

There is much scientific evidence showing the benefit and actually the necessity of probiotic bacteria such as acidophilus. Such evidence is however, commonly shrugged off in our society of antibacterial super-users. Such good bacteria as acidophilus play an important role in the production of many nutrients and in the proper absorption of nutrients. Acidophilus also acts to keep destructive yeasts and bacteria suppressed therefore maintaining a healthy balance within the body. An extra benefit of supplementing with probiotics like L. acidophilus is the detoxification of the system which invariably reduces much of the stress on the liver. Many studies have suggested that acidophilus may be an immunity enhancer suppressing the toxic effects of carcinogens.

Who needs it and what are some symptoms of deficiency?

Everyone needs acidophilus, it is an essential part of the digestive tract. But it becomes especially important to take acidophilus when one is in a state of deficiency. Supplementing with L. acidophilus during and after the use of antibiotics is of extreme importance since antibiotics will kill off the majority of good bacteria and cause symptoms of deficiency and possible overgrowth of various yeasts
