Q. Where does whey protein come from?
A. "Whey" is the name given to the watery part of milk that remains after making cheese. Whey is, in fact, a byproduct of cheese manufacturing that is rich in lactose, vitamins, minerals, and whey protein. Dairy "whey protein" is composed of several different protein fractions that include: alpha-lactalbumin, beta-lactoglobulin, bovine serum albumin, glycomacropeptides, immunoglobulins, lactoferrin, lactoperoxidase, and the proteose peptones. Each one is nutrient-rich and essential in its own way, yet it is the combination of all these fractions that gives whey protein the nutritious and health promoting value. Q. Does Pure Whey Protein Stack contain any lactose? If so, how much?
A. Yes. Pure Whey Protein Stack contains whey protein concentrate, and whey protein concentrates do contain a level of lactose. Therefore, there is some lactose present. This averages about 1.5g per serving depending on the flavor. For comparison purposes one 8 oz. glass of skim milk contains 14g of lactose and 8g of protein.
