Beta-S™ contains beta-sitosterol and citrus pectin, which are known as lowering cholesterol agents. When they are combined together, they modify dietary fat and cholesterol absorption. Beta-sitosterol restrains intestinal absorption of dietary cholesterol by competing for the limited space for cholesterol during intestinal uptake, controlling high cholesterol levels. Lowering cholesterol was never so easy!
Cholesterol is actually a necessary component of cell membranes and is an essential building block for the production of hormones, vitamin D, and bile acids. However, high cholesterol is not good. Cholesterol travels in the blood bound to protein carrier packages called lipoproteins. If not removed from the blood properly, cholesterol can build up in arteries, contributing to atherosclerosis. This is why LDL cholesterol is often called "bad cholesterol" and this is why lowering cholesterol is so important.
Cholesterol is also packaged in a high-density lipoprotein (HDL). HDL helps eliminate cholesterol from the blood, stopping the buildup in the walls of the arteries. Thus, they are referred to as the "good cholesterol" since they help in lowering cholesterol.
Control high cholesterol with Beta-S™:
- Helps in lowering cholesterol
- Supports prostate health
- Blocks of absorption sites in the intestinal walls
- Provides enzymatic shift decreasing liver cholesterol production
- Increases liver enzyme functions on the breakdown of fats
Beta-sitosterol is a Phytosterol (plant sterol) similar in structure to cholesterol, found naturally in fruits, vegetables, beans (especially soy), nuts, and seeds. It also affects an enzyme that results in the decrease of cholesterol rich lipoprotein, LDL. This can lower the LDL blood levels. Beta-sitosterol binds to prostatic tissue, inhibits prostaglandin synthesis in the prostate and acts as an anti-inflammatory. Beta-s™ can also reduce the activity of 5-alpha-reductase, an enzyme responsible for activating the conversion of testosterone to DHT (dihydrotestosterone). This inhibits the cell proliferation and development (hyperplasia) of prostate tissue that leads to all the undesirable symptoms mentioned above.
Citrus pectin is made of fiber found in the white rind of citrus fruits, which can also be used to lower cholesterol by a mechanism of blocking its dietary absorption. In addition, it was found to prevent the formation of atherosclerotic plaque on the walls of blood vessels.
